prosecutory: (♖ I'm criticized)

This kishin egg hunt was dangerous. They had to finish this as soon as possible so they could get away from the volcano. It smelled of rotten eggs, smoke and ash, and rocks were rolling down and falling and making a lot of noise. Genesis was lucky that he would be carried around as a blade for much of the mission (and so obviously he was more ready for this); Edgeworth, on the other hand, would try not to end up walking into a rain of ash or tripping over a hot rock. Unfortunately, he was so engrossed with being careful that when Genesis warned him about the creature charging from the side, Edgeworth reacted too late because those footfalls reminded him way too much of earthquakes. He couldn't stop the monster from slashing his arm. More out of instinct and rage than his usual logic, he reached out to grab its knuckles, never mind that he would be scratched by its blades again, and retaliated with a blast of Soul Menace.

At this point, you'd think they just had a turnabout and everything will fare better afterward, right? Wrong!

This monster kept thundering after them and Edgeworth had to resist the urge to run full tilt away from it because not only was it making the slopes shake, now the volcano was having a temper tantrum and the locals' reassurances that it wouldn't actually explode did not help at all. Genesis had to talk his partner through this fight and keep his head in the game because all these little quakes were making Edgeworth so anxious and distracted that he trod upon some loose rock and sprained his ankle, and couldn't dodge a couple of rocks that hit his shoulder and grazed his forehead. Yeah, Genesis, good luck dealing with a Meister who starts losing his train of thought when the ground underneath him starts shaking.

Thankfully, Edgeworth managed to get his act together and he and Genesis unleashed their deadly, fiery resonance attack to set this kishin on fire and finish it off. Turns out that their best strategy was to stay at the base of the volcano and use the attack to burn the kishin from seven feet away. Still within their distance limit.

Since they received 5 eggs for this mission when all they needed to get to 99 was 4, the last soul will be donated to Shibusen. Okay, medic!
