One thing that Morgan liked about working with Kyubey was that the alien creature didn’t seem to care much about money, letting her have part of his share of the bounty from their missions. And considering that today’s mission involved investigating the giant Sima Humboldt sinkhole, she’d seen fit to invest some of the money from their last mission in a new grappling hook and some strong rope. After Kyubey transformed and attached to Morgan in his soul gem form, the two descended into the sinkhole where the scientists had disappeared, presumably eaten by giant spiders.

Once they reached the bottom, it didn’t take long for the spiders to show up, one after the other. The eight-legged insects were the grossest enemies Morgan had fought in quite a while. Not only did they look freaky with grotesque faces plus legs ending in clawed hand-like appendages, they wouldn’t stop howling and had a habit of spitting out large sticky sections of web in attempts to ensnare her and Kyubey. She managed to dodge most of the time by somersaulting or flipping out of the way but there were times when the sword Kyubey created for her had to be used to hack away at the webs sticking her to the ground. Legs were chopped off and bodies slashed until they left behind glowing red souls to be absorbed by the alien.

The four spiders finally taken care of, they returned to Death City to collect their reward. And to take long baths to wash away all of the cobwebs. Yuck!
