L and Light are starting to trust each other more as partners, but just because their resonance is excellent doesn't mean they get along swimmingly otherwise. Specifically, L hates beaches, sun, and swimming in general, and the first thing he does is complain about the Caribbean heat. Light, who dressed for their destination and wore sunscreen, takes it in stride, shaking off his partner's childish behavior and agreeing to purchase L an umbrella drink of his choosing if they can clear the beach of Kishin eggs in less than two hours. L agrees, saying that at least his Weapon form doesn't get hot in direct sunlight like normal metal. The cold links are therefore much easier and even somewhat soothing to wield for Light, and they make short work of the skeletons... in two hours, three minutes.

Light buys L a strawberry daiquiri anyway, which he enjoys before they head home and his sunburn starts bothering him.
