Ah, would something different happen if she did consume them? I figure Lily's not going to be especially happy about suddenly being a Weapon and wouldn't want to eat the souls if she had a choice. The only good reason I can think of would be to keep a kishin egg from running off with a soul from one they already defeated since that's happened to them a couple of times before during events.
