Kanji and Naoto don't waste any time once they slip into Japan, taking off to Mt. Fuji and Aokigahara immediately. The tales of the suicide forest isn't unfamiliar to them, but to know there's a kishin egg taking advantage of those at a low point is despicable. The human who decided to eat innocent souls like this knew what they were doing. Indeed, why would anyone have suspected the deaths to be anything beyond suicides?

It's eerie in the forest and finding the tree takes some time, but they manage, getting the first strike. It's a ruthless egg, swinging and whipping its branches and ropes around and Kanji does his best to avoid. One wrong step and his ankle is snagged. Naoto's separated while he's tossed and the Weapon is seized by the egg. Kanji doesn't waste any time recovering and revving up a Soul Menace to pummel the egg and take his partner back. In hand again, they charge up a Soul Resonance attack and take the egg down in a blinding explosion. When the light falls, nothing of the kishin egg remains but its soul which Naoto collects for her eightieth.
