Mission Summary

After speaking over the network and meeting at morning training the day before, Morgan and Nanami agreed to a mission together. Going through the mirror around noon, they arrived in Melbourne at dawn due to the time difference. The temperature also turned out to be only in the 40s with the Southern hemisphere’s reversed seasons, quite a difference from the tropical Caribbean temperatures that Morgan was used to. But despite the cold, they set out to find the poisonous toadstools that had been plaguing the area.

About an hour of searching through the grasslands outside the city brought them to the second biggest mushroom Morgan had ever seen. Nanami transformed and the battle began. Experienced with a sword, Morgan was more comfortable with the scimitar than the previous Weapon forms she worked with. Still, it was a longer and narrower blade than her cutlass back home and the fight took a while with the toadstool repeatedly spitting poisonous goo in their direction and Morgan backflipping out of the way. But with some somersaults, she managed to circle around it and attack from behind.

With the first toadstool sliced to bits, a second ambled into the area, attracted by the presence of souls stronger than the ordinary humans it had been killing recently. But the thrill of their first success activated Morgan’s Meister ability, Soul Excitement, giving their resonance a boost and they made quick work of the second using similar tactics. The only snag came when Morgan slipped on some of the poisonous goo after a backflip and landed both of them in the largest puddle of the stuff. Yuck! Fortunately, the poison was weak and mostly just irritating to the skin but they were going to be itchy for a few days…

Having had enough of Australia and poisonous mushrooms for one day, they returned to Death City to report their success and claim their reward. And to clean up!
